Kaunas Studies Reading Room

The Kaunas Studies Unit of the Oak Grove Library collects, organises and disseminates information about Kaunas and its people. The library’s collection includes the most popular literature about Kaunas. For more than five decades, the Kaunas Studies Reading Room has comprehensive card catalogues “Kaunas (1600-2003)”, “Kaunas in poetry and prose”, “Famous people buried in Kaunas cemeteries”, with more than 500,000 bibliographic records not available on the Internet. You will also find a card catalogue “Kaunas region in the press (1845-1944)”, which contains information about the former and current Kaunas region – Jonava, Prienai, Birštonas, Šakiai, Kudirkos Naumiestis, Vilkaviškis, Marijampolė, as well as about Alytus, Lazdijai and Ukmergė. This is the most comprehensive and only information of its kind in Lithuanian libraries.
