Guided Tours

Oak Grove Library invites you to explore its refreshed, cozy and modern premises at Radastų g. 2. We’ve prepared an introductory tour that offers a way to get to know the library and its services.
Furthermore,  we also provide guided tours of the modernist building designed by architect Vytautas Landsbergis-Zemkalnis at 8 K. Donelaičio Street, where a part of the Oak Grove Library still resides.
All tours listed below are free of charge – get to know us, book a group tour, and enjoy!

A guided introductory tour (operated in English) of the modernised spaces of the Oak Grove Library (Radastų g. 2) – great opportunity to get to know the library or to nostalgically return to it after the changes. During the tour you will learn about the major changes, the services provided and the newly adapted spaces. For groups of 4 or more. Please specify the number of participants when booking.

A tour of the former Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of its opening will take place once a month throughout the year!
We invite you to get acquainted with the most mature building of modernist architecture designed by architect Vytautas Landsbergis-Zemkalnis, which was opened on 18 February 1939. During the tour you will see many of the preserved authentic exterior and interior elements, furniture and artworks. You will hear about lost paintings and chairs, discovered frescoes, the Grandfather from Outer Space and other intriguing stories. After all, the building was home to the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, the army headquarters, the General Commissariat, the library…

Since 1993, the Old Book Exhibition at the Oak Grove Library has been presenting the development of printed books over more than five centuries – from their cradle to 20th-century publications. During the tour, you will take a walk through the historic spaces of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Crafts – the building that now houses the Old Book Exhibition. Here, you will not only be able to take a closer look at the decorations on the covers of old publications, initial letters, surviving ex-libris, and see with your own eyes books that were once banned and distributed secretly, but also enjoy the architectural heritage of modernism.
