Guided Tours

Oak Grove Library invites you to explore its refreshed, cozy and modern premises at Radastų g. 2. For this occasion, we’ve prepared four new lively excursions that offer plenty of eye-and-mind-catching experiences.
Furthermore, in honor of the 85th anniversary of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Crafts, we are also organizing guided tours of the modernist building designed by architect Vytautas Landsbergis-Zemkalnis at 8 K. Donelaičio Street. These tours will take place once a month throughout the year.

A guided introductory tour of the modernised spaces of the Oak Grove Library (Radastų g. 2) is a great opportunity to get to know the library or to nostalgically return to it after the changes. During the tour you will learn about the major changes, the services provided and the newly adapted spaces. For groups of 8 or more. Please specify the number of participants when booking. The tour “Library for Children: read, hear and experience” invites children and their parents to visit the new Children’s and Youth Space. We invite you to get acquainted with the largest public library print collection in Lithuania! You will find out what and how it is stored, how a book gets from the collection to the user, see the oldest, smallest, largest and heaviest books in the collection, and admire the panorama of the city through the windows of the upper floor of the storage room. You can also try your hand at librarianship and find a requested book from this collection. A tour of the former Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of its opening will take place once a month throughout the year!
We invite you to get acquainted with the most mature building of modernist architecture designed by architect Vytautas Landsbergis-Zemkalnis, which was opened on 18 February 1939. During the tour you will see many of the preserved authentic exterior and interior elements, furniture and artworks. You will hear about lost paintings and chairs, discovered frescoes, the Grandfather from Outer Space and other intriguing stories. After all, the building was home to the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, the army headquarters, the General Commissariat, the library…
