FAQ

You can become a reader at the Oak Grove Library by registering at the library (Radastų St. 2 or K. Donelaičio St. 8) and getting a LIBIS library card.

When registering, please bring a valid photo ID. You will need to fill out and sign a registration form and present your LIBIS library card (if obtained at another library).

Children under the age of 16 can be registered by presenting a valid ID of one of the parents (or guardians) and filling out a registration form which includes the parent’s (or guardian’s) consent for the child to visit the library.

The library card is provided free of charge to newly registered LIBIS users.

Replacing a lost library card costs €2.

If you lose your card, please inform the library staff as soon as possible by phone +370 37 32 42 59, e-mail informacija@azuolynobiblioteka.lt, by visiting the library, or by blocking the card ibiblioteka.lt.

To obtain a new library card visit the library or use ibiblioteka.lt.

Replacing a lost library card costs €2.

The LIBIS library card is valid in all public libraries in Lithuania that are connected to the LIBIS system. The LIBIS library card is valid indefinitely. However, you need to re-register (update your information) once a year on www.ibiblioteka.lt or in the library you visit.

There’s a search button in the main window (top right of the page on the library website azuolynobiblioteka.lt. In the search field, enter the title of the publication or part of it, the author, or a keyword. Make sure to select the option to search within the ibiblioteka.lt catalogue.

You can also search directly on ibiblioteka.lt.

You can book publications in the electronic catalogue ibiblioteka.lt. Once you’ve typed in your search and found the publication you need, click View. To reserve a publication, click Order. In the list generated, select the desired library and click on the link Reserve. In the reservation window, select your preferred delivery method and click Reserve. You will see the reserved publication in the automatically generated list.

Publications can be borrowed for home use by all registered library readers.

The borrowing period for publications is 30 days, except for children’s literature and periodicals, which have a 15-day borrowing period.

You can extend the borrowing period (except in cases where the materials are in high demand and/or requested by other readers) at the library, through the electronic catalogue at ibiblioteka.lt, or via the contacts provided below:

If you lose or irreparably damage a library item, you must replace it with an identical item or one recognised by the library as equivalent (the procedure for recognising equivalent items is outlined in Order No. V-58 of the Library Director, dated 31 October 2017).

If replacement is not possible, you are required to compensate for the damage in accordance with the procedure for compensation for lost or irreparably damaged items in the Oak Grove Library, as approved by the Director’s Order No. V-83, dated 12 December 2018.

If library materials (equipment) are lost due to fire, theft, or similar circumstances, and you provide a document confirming this issued by the relevant authorities, you will be exempt from compensation (including replacing the items with identical or equivalent ones).

On the ibiblioteka.lt portal, click Login. On the page that opens, click Forgot my password and enter your email address. In your email, you will receive a generated password, which you can change to one of your choice after logging into the catalogue.

Late fees begin to accrue on the next library business day after the loan period expires.

The late fee is €0.03 per item for each library business day.

Readers under the age of 16 are not charged late fees for overdue items; however, they will be temporarily restricted from borrowing items to take home (depending on the length of the overdue period, but for no longer than 6 months).

The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a form of collaboration between libraries, where one library lends documents to another or provides copies of document excerpts. If you cannot find the publication you need at your library, you can order books or article copies to the Oak Grove Library from the collections of libraries in other cities.

You can place an order yourself on ibiblioteka.lt, contact a reference librarian in the Silent Reading Room (Radastų St. 2, 3rd floor), or via email at tba@azuolynobiblioteka.lt.

The service is free when ordering publications from public libraries in Lithuania. A fee is required only if you want to receive document copies.

You can return borrowed books by putting them in the special book return boxes located at K. Donelaičio St. 8 (near the library entrance) or Radastų St. 2 (by the doors on the Radastų St. side).

At K. Donelaičio St. 8 you can find the Art Publications, Music Publications, Kaunas Studies, and Rare and Old Publications Reading Rooms.

Here, you can borrow materials for in-library use or for home use, access public internet, receive bibliographic information, get help with using catalogues, play the piano, and use equipment for viewing/listening to various media formats such as vinyl records, compact discs, and other services.

To book an individual room, visit the library’s website at azuolynobiblioteka.lt and click on “Reservations”. On the opened page, select the desired room, choose the meeting time, and fill in your contact information. Pick up/return the room key at the Information Desk on the 2nd floor of Radastų St. 2.
