Approximately 8 000 registered readers take advantage of the Oak Grove Library’s services annually, with more than 320 visitors daily. The most popular service remains borrowing publications for home use. The library also offers access to computers and the internet, and hosts events, exhibitions, and educational activities.
The library has a collection of 1.7 million documents, consisting of publications in Lithuanian and the main foreign languages on a wide range of subjects (social and humanities sciences; natural and technical sciences; art, music, fiction; and Kaunas studies).
In 2019, the Kaunas County Public Library began implementing two investment projects that involved renovating the main building at Radastų St. 2. Along with the modernisation of the building, the brand identity, logo, library services, regulations, and website were also improved.
On 19 January 2024, the modernised library welcomed its readers with renewed cosy spaces, stylish furniture and modern equipment, inviting them to make use of its relevant services for information, study and work, relaxation, education and leisure.
Until the second phase of the library’s modernisation is completed, you can still visit the Art and Music, Old and Rare Prints, and Kaunas Studies Reading Rooms, as well as the Educational Space, the Old Book Exposition, and the Training Room at K. Donelaičio St. 8. Various exhibitions and events will also be held there.
The Library invites the community of Kaunas city, the region and visitors from other cities to immerse themselves in a world of knowledge and adventure. With the rapidly changing information consumption habits of modern society in recent years, the library adapts to these changes. It offers updated services and seeks new and unexpected forms for events, exhibitions, and educational workshops. Additionally, it collaborates with other Lithuanian libraries on projects and programmes focused on the development of critical thinking, the use of information, and all-round personal and professional growth.
