From 2 June all children, their parents and lovers of illustrations are invited to see the exhibition of children’s illustrations by the artist Kornelija Žalpytė in the Gallery of Kaunas Oak Grove Library (Radastų St. 2, 4th floor). This year, her book “My Friend Hippocampus Unicorn”, co-authored with writer Jurga Vilė, won the Illustration of the Year Award and a diploma in the Ministry of Culture’s Book Art Competition in the category of children’s books, established by the Lithuanian Publishers Association.
Deep blue from the depths of the sea and warm greyish tones – these are the worlds of the two latest picture books by illustrator Kornelija Žalpytė, inviting us to dive into the depths of the underwater and cinematic world. The illustrator presents original drawings, sketches and behind-the-scenes of these books – a unique opportunity to see the process of creating the much-loved illustrations and the nuances of the technique.
The exhibition runs from 2 June to 2 July.
