The painting exhibition “The Swamp” speaks not only about being stuck or in a swampy state, but about the subtle balance between chaos and beauty, destruction and renewal as well. In Varkalis’ works, dark tones are contrasted with flashes of light – as if to convey a hope, glowing even when surrounded by war and despair. Through abstract forms and layered textures, the artist analyses the impact of war and draws attention to the fragility of man and nature.
Exhibition “The Swamp” is an emotional response to world events, it is as well an invitation to contemplate destruction and survival, meaninglessness and purpose.
The exhibition “Varkalis Paintings. The Swamp” will be exhibited from 6 January to 27 January, in the Gallery of the Oak Grove Library (Radastų Str. 2, 4th floor).
