On February 4th at 6:30 PM, at the Gallery of the Oak Grove Library (Radastų St. 2, 4th floor) the opening of Nerius Vaitkus’ exhibition “In Time…” will take place.
By choosing this title, the artist aims not only to emphasize the transience of life but also to justify a long creative pause during which he searched for himself. This is an ongoing process — one that continues through the harmony of colors, the proportions of brushstrokes, and their arrangement. His unique perception of the world is visually expressed and evolves along with the changing world itself.
N. Vaitkus draws inspiration for his paintings from his surroundings. His diverse work is strongly influenced by emotions. Often set within an abstract and expressive context, he uniquely conveys his thoughts and inner experiences — anxiety, nostalgia, doubt — through contrasts of color. With fleeting brushstrokes, he manages to reveal a subjective vision of the world.
Although he completed his studies in Fine Arts and specialized in stained glass at the Faculty of Arts at Šiauliai University, he set aside his artistic career for a long time. However, painting remained his passion, even as life led him into different fields. Once he resumed painting intensively, he became actively involved in the cultural and artistic scene, showcasing his work in Lithuania and Germany.
He lives in Kaunas. In 2023, he joined the Lithuanian Artists’ Association and is now strengthening its painting division in Kaunas. He collaborates with the Aukso Pjūvis and Parkas galleries, as well as virtual galleries such as Saatchi Art (USA) and Tricera (Japan).
Having realized the impermanence of life, artist Nerius Vaitkus understands that each exhibition is a marker of a fleeting moment in time, a quiet whisper to himself: “I made it in time…”
